The 2013 Spring Carnival took place on March 22nd and 23rd. The kids did not have school on that Friday but got to have fun down on the frozen Yukon River instead! The first day was pretty cold with a chilly wind blowing, but the second day warmed up for all to enjoy the day. Here are some pictures to show the fun we all had during the two days!

Friday night there was a cover dish, cake walk, raffle, music, and a dance. Aubrey and Ross dancing.

After having a blast at the dance and getting to bed late, Aubrey had a swimathon the next morning to raise money for the swim team. She swam 31 laps! Then came home, ate and we went down to the carnival. One busy girl! She was dragging during the races. I don't blame her. I would be dragging too.
The adult sled dog race started off the Saturday afternoon activities.
Our one and only doctor and her husband have sled dogs. Here she is racing their dogs.

She got 3rd place and a bronze medal.

It was so funny...Ross went up to the the house to get the girls' Kitty Cat ready for the race and he rode it down to the river like this! Ummm, I think it is a little too small for you Honey!

Here is a video of Aubrey. The did the placing of the race by times so they all took off at different times so they wouldn't run in to eachother. Aubrey is the last to go in this heat. You can hear them counting down.

The last competition was the ice picking contest. Ross didn't compete because he made ice picks with his Villiage Science class and he wanted his students to be able to use the picks. So he got them started and helped them out. I think he learned a few tricks of the trade and might compete next year.

Water! As soon as the ice is picked away, the water fills up the hole. The ice was about 4.5 feet thick in the spot the winner picked through this year. No one else got through and they spent over an hour picking hard! Some places are thicker than others on the river, but he has a specific way he does it and wins every time.
