Since I didn't make hardly any posts for the months of October and November, I am going to use this last little bit of time I have before school gets started again and the busyness of life comes back. I will soon be doing preschool with Marina in the morning and going back to the ministry things I am involved in so I am trying really hard to get caught up on my posts. Some of you may be thinking just let it go and post about current stuff, but my eventual goal is to print this blog into a book so it is like a journal of our life the past year. Wish me luck, I may not get it all done before Monday as I have a lot to get caught up on!
At the beginning of October we were blessed with a visit from Ross' Dad (Grandpa Bruce) and stepmom (Grandma Benni). Almost as soon as they arrived, we went for a drive out the road to show them the Yukon river, our mall (the dump), and to go grouse hunting. Of course father and son had to whip out the guns and do some target practice along the way!
Grandpa Bruce, Grandma Benni, and the girls with the Yukon River down the steep bank behind them.
Ross and Bruce shooting at some sticks floating down the river.
Walking down "the road" after getting some grouse. This is the only road that leads out of town to the dump and then ends shortly after that.
Showing off their grouse
A happy hunter! The girls love grouse and pretty much anything Dad has shot here. They have tried rabbit and ptarmigan as well and really like that. Hopefully Ross will get a lynx in one of his traps this year and we will have to try that to see if we like it. People say it tastes like...you guessed it, chicken!
Ross got the girls a pink 22 and Aubrey loves to target practice with it!
Grandpa Bruce coaching Grandma Benni
When there is not snow on the ground, there is sand everywhere. The girls love to go down to the river, grab a stick and make lines for their sisters to follow in the sand. On this day Ross made a maze for them to try to get to the center of and then back out.
We call this area "The Dunes" as it is basically a big hill of sand that overlooks the Yukon River. This is where we go sledding when there is snow. Grandpa Bruce is heading up The Dunes with the girls. You can see they are carrying sticks and making a trail in the sand as they go.
And here they are coming down the other side!
Hold my hand please, Grandpa!
Now that we got the shooting and tour over with, let's head to the Jamboree!
