Shortly after moose season was over this year, Ross took Aubrey beaver hunting. This was of course before the river froze up. Ross, a friend, and Aubrey took a boat down the Yukon to check out some sloughs. Aubrey spotted this beaver first and Ross got it. Here she is after her first beaver hunting experience!
It was shortly after Aubrey's beaver hunting experience that we had our first snow. It was sure different this year compared to last. This year we barely had any snow until after Christmas almost. Last year, we had a record snow fall and most of it was in October and November. It is amazing how mild this winter has been compared to last winter. Yes we have had some dips to the negative 50s but for the most part it has been a warm winter for here (staying above -20 and even into the positive teens on some days). Last winter was the coldest they'd had in a long time. I experienced -70 last year with temps that stayed cold for most of the winter. So needless to say we have been enjoying the milder winter! I was looking back through my pictures and wanted to post these of the first snow of this year. The girls took advantage and went out to try to build a tiny snowman!
